Kiso B1 Baldwin Tank 2009
In early 20s, the transportation needs in the forestry industry in Japan required small steam locomotive and a new tank locomotive was introduced by the Baldwin, USA. These 4-6-2 tanks came into service with the new Tsugaru logging railways in 1906. They were also used for the other famous forest railways including the Kiso until they were completely replaced by the following Diesel locomotives by 1960. Some of the tanks are still preserved in operational condition.
Aster has completely redesigned the B1 tank produced in 1981. The new Kiso tank is offered in basic Slip-Eccentric Valve gear. The optional Stephenson∏s valve gear and detail kit will be also offered in March 2010.
